Building Character

For my video, I created a series of drawing process recordings for the various character design sheets I have drawn this semester. I did this in preparation for my ultimate goal, which is to create children’s media. I make art for children because I believe that we can inspire the next generation to be more tolerant, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent. This can be done through storytelling. I focus on illustration because I think that it is universally understandable and more engaging to young readers. I want to connect with children and engage them in important conversations by approaching them in their world of paper dolls and fairy tales. Outlooks are learned, and visual storytelling is a way of teaching.
