we’ve had to re-shift our focus along with our lives recently. there is so much beauty in the smallness of things, from the spaces we make for ourselves, the routines that keep us sane, and the people we hold close and admire every day. through hardened focus and attention to detail, some of the simplest things can be painstakingly beautiful. creating this work came from a place of healing and newfound gratefulness for those simple things, and somehow my world seems much bigger now that I’ve completed it. in paying so much attention to myself and the detailed techniques of painting and drawing, I can now experience the world in a much more rich way by noticing all the complexities of the uncomplicated. maybe next time on your daily walk, you’ll notice a fire hydrant or two, too.
